Elementary School Summer Reading

PROGRAM INFORMATION:

All Wethersfield public elementary school students will be registered online by their teachers, or you may use an existing account to register.

  • For children entering grades K-6
  • To register and log your reading visit wethersfieldlibrary.beanstack.org/
  • You can also register and log your reading via the Beanstack app! Download @ www.beanstack.com/mobile-app
  • Monday, June 22: begin counting and logging your minutes read
  • Read books at your reading level.
  • Participants who are not reading on their own may count time spent while being read to.
  • READ TO BEAD!! For every 60 minutes that you read you will earn 4 beads to add to your chain. Trade in 10 beads for a special bead. Earn more beads by attending programs and completing activities found on Beanstack.
  • Monday, June 22: pick up begins for all incentives earned and are available while supplies last.
  • Saturday, August 22: summer reading ends, last day to collect incentives.
INCENTIVES:

Level 1: Field Rookie: Time Read: 30 minutes total = Paperback Book, 1st Brag Tag, chain & Trading Card

Level 2: Fossil Finder: Time Read: 300 minutes total = Adopt-a-Dino, 2nd Brag Tag, 1 Grand Prize Entry

Level 3: Excavation expert: Time Read: 600 minutes total = Dinosaur Egg Excavation Kit, 3rd Brag Tag & 1 Grand Prize Entry

Level 4: Lead Paleontologist: Time Read: 900 minutes total = Paperback Book, 4th Brag Tag, 1 Grand Prize Entry

Bonus Levels: World-Renowned Discoverer!  Time Read: 1,200 minutes total or more = 3 Additional Grand Prize Entries & continue earning 4 beads for every 60 minutes read

Preschool Summer Reading

PROGRAM INFORMATION:
  • For children ages birth-4 (not entering Kindergarten in August 2026)
  • Monday, June 22 : Summer Reading Program begins! Visit the library to register and receive a reading log.
  • Fill (color) in a shovel for every day you read to your child.
  • Earn a sticker when you complete each level.
  • Earn a book and dinosaur mask when you complete level 4.
  • Earn another Dino-Mite prize when you complete level 8.
  • Incentives are available while supplies last.
  • Saturday, August 22: Summer Reading ends, last day to collect incentives!

CT State Parks: Sky's The Limit Challenge

"The 2026 Sky’s the Limit Hiking and Walking Challenge invites you to explore some of Connecticut's State Parks and Forests, each with a story to tell. This year’s theme, “America’s 250th", celebrates Connecticut’s role in shaping our nation - from Revolutionary War landmarks to places that reflect the voices and experiences of diverse communities across time. This year’s challenge starts with 20 different hikes, but we are keeping some of our powder dry, so be on the lookout for additional missions to be launched as the year progresses. Whether you're hiking solo, adventuring with a flock of friends and family, or bringing along your leashed four-legged companion, this challenge is your chance to learn, explore, and play outdoors.
