Public Services Manager – Adult/Teen

Reports to: Library Director
Schedule: Must be flexible to include evenings and weekends
FLSA: Exempt
Status: Full time (currently 35 hours)
Salary Range Begins: $60,047.97
Union/Non-Union: Union

As the Public Services Manager you will draw on your expertise to lead a team of professional staff to provide outstanding service to the community of Wethersfield. We are looking for someone who not only is customer focused, forward-thinking, and collaborative but who also shows initiative and helps ensure the delivery of quality results.

Examples of duties include: supervision of department personnel, supervise and participate in the Adult and Teen department’s collection development and maintenance as well as programming and outreach, participate in the preparation of the annual budget and grant proposals, manage the interlibrary loan program, provide administrative oversight for the library’s IT, act as liaison to community organizations, groups, and local businesses, and respond to patron needs.

This position requires an ALA Accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science or Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent. Three years of professional experience in a public library setting demonstrating progressively responsible management experience, including supervision of staff. Strong knowledge of library related hardware, software, digital platforms, ILS, website, web and mobile applications, databases, and social media. A valid driver’s license is required.

As a part-time Library Assistant you will draw on your experience to provide outstanding service to the community of Wethersfield. We are looking for someone who is customer focused, detail-oriented, collaborative, and helps ensure the delivery of quality results.

Examples of duties include: Working at the circulation desk performing all routine circulation functions (e.g. check in/out, collection of fines and fees); providing general information to users regarding the library’s circulation policies, procedures, and services; making appropriate referrals to professional staff; shelving or retrieving of library materials as needed.
This position requires a high school diploma and demonstrated strong customer service skills. In addition, applicants must have prior computer training and experience. Previous experience working in a library setting preferred.

Examples of duties include: Answering information and/or readers advisory requests; providing general research assistance; providing assistance to full time staff in areas such as collection development as well as classes, programming, and outreach; may also work on special projects.

This position requires an ALA Accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science or Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent and one year of experience in general library work. Demonstrated strong customer service skills. Demonstrated experience with MS Office, social media, databases, ILS, and print management software.
